- A more suitable choice for homes in Houston and surrounding areas—especially when dealing with tall windows featuring an oriel-style bottom sash (smaller than the top), which is a very common configuration in this region
- You can have operable shapes like round top windows with a single hung. Something not possible with a double hung unless a half round picture window is mulled to the top
What Is a Double Hung Window?
Double hung window: Again, two sashes that open. You can open the one at the bottom, or at the top, or both. The majority of double hung windows also tilt inward, allowing for easier cleaning from the inside of your home.

- You won’t need a ladder to wash the window from the outside because both sashes tilt in
- Opens for a better air flow (top and bottom open)
- Safer for homes with children — open the top sash for ventilation without concern about accidents
